When a preform is subjected to heating in the Oven, the neck portion should not be exposed to the IR Lamp. To achieve this, the individual Preform neck is guarded with an Aluminum Jacket, through which chilled water flows 360° around each and every moving and rotating preform while heating.
Short to medium wave length IR radiation is required for heating PET material. Due to higher heating density of IR lamp, outer surface of preform has 10 to 15 degree more temperature than inside surface because PET material has poor conductivity. This is the limitation of IR heating system.
Technopet has devised 'Intermittent Relaxation Heating System'. This new system attains uniform temperature across the wall thickness of preform. With this new system the temperature difference between inside and outside surface of Preform is maximum 5 Deg C. This improves the transparency of bottle and its strength by reducing preform weight and lowering power consumption.
